Common Questions
1. Is pre-marital counseling important? I feel Pre-marriage counseling is important. So much so, that I have developed a pre-marriage counseling program that many have found to be very helpful. There is an additional fee, and is available per your request. This is important in establishing a strong foundation for your marriage but it is not required. 2. When planning my ceremony, should I include children from a previous marriage? Involving children from previous relationships is a great way to help them feel that they are an important part of this newly forming family. I would be happy to show you the many ways that your children can be involved. 3. What is involved in obtaining a marriage license? The bride and groom need to apply together at the county courthouse for a marriage license. A blood test is not required and it is no longer necessary for anyone other than the officiant to sign a Georgia marriage license. A Georgia marriage license is good indefinitely. Keep in mind that the marriage is valid only after it is signed by the officiant, and then sent in by the officiant to the county probate court. 4. Can I have a private ceremony and then a public ceremony? Yes. There are many reasons why people do this today, in fact it is not uncommon to have a private ceremony and then later have a ceremony celebrating this wonderful event with family and friends. I have officiated both private and public ceremonies, making both meaningful celebrations. 5. Do I need a wedding coordinator for my wedding? On the day of the wedding, my attention will be focused on your ceremony. The more detailed and elaborate the wedding, the more important it is to have a wedding coordinator. I have worked with a number of very good coordinators and am able to make recommendations if you would like.
